I don’t like it when people try and say Judai is a bland character, or that he has no depth, or that GX itself is a inconsistent show with no plot. Now, that being said, I am not the kind of person you go to when you want to hear a thoughtful, in depth character analysis. I tend to like characters for superficial reasons, because I like the way they look or I think they’re nice or I like their personality. I couldn’t begin to tell you why I actually like those things about them, or why they’re a worthwhile addition to the show they’re a part of. It also bears saying that people can, of course, have their own opinions.

But when I see that opinion floating around, It makes me wonder if we even watched the same show????  Because to me Judai isn’t bland or two dimensional, he’s technicolor and really refreshing in a different, and sometimes better way than the original Duel Monsters series. Even if you argue that GX is garbage, I would still think you can admit that Judai is a dynamic and interesting character? But I hear the exact opposite sometimes and it confuses the heck out of me, because I just don’t know how you can consider Judai to be a sloppy, unengaging character.
